The Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments Downtown, Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, recently celebrated Holi by greeting its associates with colored powder and a Thandai, a traditional Indian drink.
Also known as the “Festival of Colors,” Holi is a Hindu Festival that marks the end of Winter and celebrates triumph of good over evil. It stems from the legend of a hero overcoming a pair of demon siblings. During the holiday, participants splash each other with coloured water and vibrantly colored powder. It’s an occasion for family and friends to gather, laugh, dance, and feast.
The hotel welcomed associates with 70’s Bollywood songs and provided unique festive food in the back of the house to ensure that associates on all shifts experienced the joyous holiday. The celebration gave associates the opportunity to learn about Holi while honoring Marriott International’s value of embracing all cultures.
This is an example of how associates across Marriott International work together to help Empower Through Opportunity and Welcome All and Advance Human Rights, integral parts of Marriott’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
