The Kochi Marriott Hotel in Kochi, India, recently hosted 30 students, teachers, and volunteers from the local BUDS School as way to give back to their local community.
The day began with a traditional lunch of local delicacies like Biriyani and Payasam as well as more special treats like chocolate milkshakes and ice cream. The hotel also coordinated several activities in which the group could participate – such as singing, dancing, and miming – to help round out the day with some physical wellbeing, but also share in a little fun!
The hotel also expressed a special “thank you” to the teachers and volunteers, who spend their time with the students and provide them guidance.
BUDS Schools provide children up to the age of 18, who have intellectual disabilities, an opportunity to receive an education in an inclusive atmosphere. BUDS Schools were created as social development programs by Kudumbashree, a community network, considered to be one of the largest women’s networks in the world, that focuses on eradicating poverty and empowering women.
This is an example of how associates across Marriott International work together to help Nurture Our World, an integral part of Marriott’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
