Marriott International is aware of the powerful roles that women play. Not only in this company, but in society as a whole. That’s why, in honor of International Women’s Day, the Marriott Business Council in Mexico hosted a groundbreaking networking event at the Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel.
The event provided 65 female managers from 10 hotels across Marriott International’s portfolio as well as associates from various “above property” departments (e.g., Revenue Management) the opportunity to chat, “talk-show” style, with 5 of Marriott’s female vice presidents (and Tim Sheldon, Marriott’s President of the Caribbean & Latin America) in an effort to inspire and support the female managers in developing their careers and goals within the company.
The attendees learned so much, asking great questions from who their role model is, and what is the best and worst part of their job, to what has been the most challenging moment in their careers. As you can imagine, the answers were inspirational, heart-felt, and at times, funny.
This is a great example of how Marriott is committed to developing roles for senior management to play in ensuring that women progress and improve their career development process. It is also a great example of how associates across Marriott International work together to help Empower Through Opportunity, an integral part of Marriott’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
