The holidays often require a significant amount of shopping. The St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club wanted to turn that crazy time into a fun and beneficial one. The historic property once again opened its doors to residents for the 7th annual Christmas Fayre in support of St. David’s Hospice Care charity.
The 14th century manor house is in South Wales and became a Marriott-branded hotel in 1996. It is one of the oldest Marriott properties in the world and includes a parish church within the grounds that was built around 1100. The historic grounds play host every year to a festive fayre, or market, where food and other items are sold to support St. David’s Hospice Care.
For associates, it was all hands on deck as volunteers manned 50 stalls offering a huge variety of yuletide gifts and products. Joining them were the local Brownies (Girl Scouts) and Air Cadets (Air Training Corps and British youth organization sponsored by the Ministry of Defense) to add to the festive feeling.
At the fayre, there was something for everybody including live music, choirs, festive food, face painting, a raffle, and of course the man himself—Santa Claus. In the end, the one-day event welcomed more than 1,500 people and raised upwards of £5,000. What a wonderful way to give back this holiday season!
