The flooding in Baton Rouge has shown Marriott associates at their finest, led by the Marriott New Orleans Business Council, which mobilized to help associates, their family members and others affected by the historic flood.
Stacie L., a front desk associate at the Courtyard Baton Rouge Acadian Centre, and her family lost their home and all of their possessions when four feet of water flooded their home on August 14. Four associates from the New Orleans Downtown Marriott at the Convention Center drove to her home to help. With assistance from some of her Courtyard colleagues, they removed furniture and appliances and cut out four feet of sheetrock to prevent mold. This is one of many stories from the flood region that illustrates our associates’ spirit to serve.
Stacie and her husband and their two daughters, ages 15 and 9, are currently living at the Courtyard. Despite losing their home and belongings, Stacie is resilient and says they will rebuild as best as they can. Our ‘People First’ culture and core values have been widely displayed this past week in Louisiana.
