Leaving a child off for college is a difficult time for any parent, especially when it’s for the first time. Dana Freeman, a mother of a new George Washington University student, took to Twitter to jokingly share her sadness.
“If you see me around town this weekend crying like a baby, it’s because I am dropping my oldest off at @GWTweets.”
In partnership with BCV, a social listening agency, the team at Washington Marriott Georgetown replied back to Dana and struck up a conversation. After some back and forth, the team decided to take their interaction to the next step to welcome Dana and help her during this bittersweet trip.
During her stay, the team sent her tissues, aromatherapy lotion, a GWU-themed treat, wine, a Starbucks gift card, and a handwritten note. Dana, who happened to also be a travel blogger, tweeted images of the amenities and called out Washington Georgetown Marriott for making her day and thanking us for our above and beyond service.
A small gesture can go a long way!
