In January, the UK South Marriott Business Council hosted their annual “Burns Night” event at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square in London, England, for 430 guests in support of Global’s Make Some Noise charity.
Burns Night, which falls on January 25 every year, is a celebration of the life and poetry of the Scottish poet Robert Burns (who wrote the legendary song Auld Lang Syne, a song synonymous with New Year’s Eve). Burns Night is celebrated throughout the United Kingdom.
Make Some Noise supports small charities across the United Kingdom who help children and their families living with illness, disability, or lack of opportunity, by uniting them with some of the biggest radio stations in the United Kingdom and their listeners to give them a voice and raise money to support their amazing work.
With over 40 Marriott associates volunteering to organize the evening’s festivities, which included dinner, a raffle, and an auction, the “Burns Night” event raised $129,639.87 (£ 93394.43) for Make Some Noise.
This is a great example of how associates across Marriott International work together to help Nurture Our World, an integral part of Marriott’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
