Associates from the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, Phuket Marriott Naiyang Beach, Phuket Marriott Merlin Beach, The Westin Sirey Bay Resort & Spa, Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort, The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Phuket and Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa in Thailand recently undertook reforestation efforts in the mangrove forests of Baan Tub Pla.
Located in the Phang Nga province, an area on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula that’s known for its limestone karsts and natural beauty, Baan Tub Pla was identified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as in need of reforestation.
Marriott associates quickly rose to the challenge. In close partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) the teams and achieved inspiringly verdant results – planting over 2,000 mangrove (Rhizophora Apiculate) seedlings.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a membership Union uniquely composed of both government and civil society organizations. It provides public, private and non-governmental organizations with the knowledge and tools that enable human progress, economic development and nature conservation to take place together.
