Treasures abounded during Marriott International’s #90Treasures global treasure hunt that celebrated the company’s 90th anniversary since opening a nine-stool A&W Root Beer stand in Washington, D.C. in 1927. From Los Cabos to Singapore; from Dresden to Cape Town; guests found treasures that ranged from Marriott Rewards and SPG points to luxurious spa experiences, to all-access passes to the beachfront recreation center, and much more.
The most valuable treasures we found were the excitement, happiness, and gratitude from our guests. One such story from the AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe/Downtown (owned and managed by Pacific Hospitality Group, LLC) details Karen and her daughter Sophia finding the prize of 30,000 rewards points hidden amongst the books in their library. Karen called the GM to personally thank the hotel, and specifically Samantha (the AC family member who checked them in), to tell them about their circumstance and gratitude.
Karen and Sophia live in Tucson and make the weekly drive to Tempe so Sophia can receive medical treatments. With Tucson about two hours away, they usually drive back after treatment, but this time they decided to stay overnight. They were so glad they did because the rewards points they received helped them make future stops, including an extended stay with their whole family during this past holiday weekend.
Since Karen and Sophia always try to “have fun and be joyful,” Samantha and the concierge team planned a weekend full of biking, paddle boarding, and exploration of the Tempe area for the whole family to enjoy. Every associate at the AC Hotel Tempe is happy to see Karen and Sophia again and again at their new “home away from home,” where they will always feel like part of the family.
