The “Scout Oath” states that a scout will help other people at all times. The Irvine Marriott wanted to share in their oath and help the scouts during the annual food drive. Their campaign, called “Scouting for Food,” is a food collection drive that impacts the hungry throughout Orange County. Every year the Boy & Girl Scouts of Orange County volunteer their time and effort to source food donations from local neighborhoods and shopping malls.
To support the scouts, Irvine Marriott and their partner, Second Harvest of Orange County, put together to-go lunches for the active volunteers. Members of the Culture Initiative team worked closely with Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County to ensure logistics were in place for the boxed lunches to be collected, while a team of three culinarians crafted the to-go lunches.
It’s a small gesture of thanks for an initiative that raised more than 57,000 lbs. of food last year that created more than 44,000 meals!
