Whether near Houston or across of the country, property owners have taken great initiative in helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Moody National Companies

Brett Moody, chairman and CEO of Moody National Companies (owner of several Houston-based Marriott properties) was quick to reach out to employees affected by the storm, offering comfort as well as financial support. He gave employees clear directions on how to receive FEMA care and opened his Moody Miracle Fund to employees in emergency situations.

Brett also personally helped others around the city to evacuate their properties and visited his properties to deliver food from his own house.

Apple Hospitality REIT

The team at Apple Hospitality REIT, a Marriott partner based out of Richmond, VA, stepped up in a big way to help displaced Houstonians. Employees took to the shopping mall to gather relief supplies to send down to Houston.

Chairman of Apple Hospitality REIT Glade Knight accompanied the supplies on the flight down to Houston to personally help and show his support to those going through difficult times. One of the people Glade met was Nila, a laundry attendant from the Marriott Houston Energy Corridor. She lost literally everything in her home, which is just a few blocks from the property. When Nila evacuated, she came to the hotel with very few personal belongings other than her Marriott uniform. Her dedication and resiliency is remarkable! It made for a touching moment for both Glade and Nila (pictured), one that neither will forget.

True North Hotel Group and Ferguson Properties

True North Hotel Group and Ferguson Properties teamed up to provide relief to Houston, organizing a drive to send supplies to the flooded area. Partnering with Crossley Ford, they loaded two trucks full of supplies—one with diapers and baby wipes and the other with non-perishable items.

McKibbon Hospitality

McKibbon Hospitality made a big commitment to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, setting up a relief fund to donate funds to the American Red Cross. McKibbon Hospitality’s Foundation agreed to match all donations from the McKibbon family up to $100,000 at a time. They have also been encouraging team members to give blood at the local blood bank and donate rewards points to further help the cause.

Far and wide, everyone is coming together for the same cause. It’s inspiring to see all the great work Marriott partners are doing to provide support and relief. Keep up the great work!
