The Hotel EMC2, which is part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, in Chicago, Illinois, recently hosted a charity event to benefit Project SYNCERE as well as celebrate both Albert Einstein’s birthday and Pi Day (March 14)!
As part of the charity event – and keeping with the Pi Day theme – the hotel invited guests and hotel associates to participate in a “Pie in the Face” activity on the property’s patio… in the name of charity, of course.
For a $5.00 donation, participants could throw a pie at a member of the hotel’s management team from 10 feet away. Or for a $10.00 donation, the participants could throw the pie from a mere 5 feet!
In total, the event raised $1,000. All proceeds were then donated to Project SYNCERE, an educational, Chicago-based, nonprofit that combines art and science to create transformational experiences for youth within underserved Chicago communities. The acronym SYNCERE stands for Supporting Youth’s Needs with Core Engineering Research Experiments.
This is an example of how associates across Marriott International work together to help Nurture Our World, an integral part of Marriott’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
