Any reason to give back to our communities is a great one, but it’s even better when hundreds of properties go all-in together. The “Run to Give” campaign, in its second year, is a series of charity running events hosted by Marriott International properties across Asia Pacific to raise money for local charities. This year saw properties host 115 events including the very first for the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi in Vietnam.
The JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi joined forces with their sister hotel, the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, to raise money for Aid for Social Protection Program Foundation Vietnam (AFV). The goal was to raise money in order to build schools, bridges, libraries, and many other facilities for poor, ethnic, minority children in Vietnam.
More than 600 people of all ages participated, including associates from both properties. Everyone was excited to take part in the run and even pressed for it to become a yearly tradition. The children brought the most enthusiasm, knowing they were doing good for their less fortunate peers.
This one event raised more than 133 million VND ($6,000 USD) which they will be putting towards the construction of a school for children in remote area of the Cao Bang province in Vietnam.
