Six billion of anything is an astounding amount, no matter how you look at it. When associates heard about the StepUp Challenge, a part of Marriott’s TakeCare movement, many thought that the challenge of tallying a collective six billion steps around the world, between July and September, was an insurmountable feat.
As our associated often do, they went above and beyond to do more than their share. Associates at the Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel not only took this challenge to heart, but had some fun on the road to six billion. Recently, to keep associates moving, they kicked off a “Treasure Hunt” within the property. With a list of missions to complete, associates trekked around the hotel in search of clues while racking up thousands of steps.
After spending 30 minutes walking around the hotel and up and down stairs, the participants built up quite an appetite. To reward them for their steps and missions accomplished, the team was treated to a heart-healthy lunch of dried fruits and specially prepared Quinoa Salads with Okra.
The day was full of excitement and enjoyment and the team is looking forward to other StepUp- and TakeCare-related events in the coming weeks! In one week, the team accumulated more than three million steps. Together we can achieve the goal of six billion!
