Marriott International has a history of supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). We were their first corporate partner in 1983, and have raised over $115 million during the past 34 years. Because of our long relationship, CMNH’s New York Champion, Teddy, had a chance to visit corporate headquarters in Bethesda last summer and interview CEO Arne Sorenson. Needless to say, he stole everyone’s heart.
Teddy is an eight-year-old twin who was born prematurely. He has been treated at Cohen Children’s Medical Center on Long Island for his entire life, as he suffers from Hydrocephalus, which is a buildup of fluid on the brain. This rare disorder causes Teddy problems with short-term memory, physical deficits and other neurological conditions. Teddy has endured more than 30 surgeries since his birth.
A few of our associates went to the recent CMNH Momentum Conference where they were able to reconnect with Teddy. The Momentum Conference was a chance for Marriott International to present our yearly goal – a 20% increase in cash raised for the hospitals over 2016’s $5.7 million total, with every dollar raised at local properties going directly to their local CMNH.
