It’s easy to forget just how fragile and sensitive something is until you see it in person. For the associates at Karachi Marriott Hotel, owned and managed by Hashwani Hotels, Ltd., it was important for them to visit the WWF Wetland Centre to both learn and help educate others on the plight of marine turtles and their impact on the environment.
For more than 100 million years, marine turtles covered vast distances across the world’s oceans‚ serving a vital role in marine and coastal ecosystems. Over the last 200 years though, human activities tipped the scales against the survival of these ancient mariners.
To help the cause, the associates planted mangrove saplings and participated in a presentation about the sea turtles and how the hatchlings can be saved and released in the sea carefully.
All associates met the baby turtles and held them in their hands to feel how vulnerable they are to survive in the tough environment that is polluted by humans every day. Education and understanding is the first step towards change.
