Chefs from several Marriott International hotels across the country of Jordan came together to collaborate with The Culinary Diplomacy Project for the “Feast of Five,” a street-food festival that helps raise money for the King Hussein Cancer Foundation - a local medical center that treats both adult and pediatric patients with cancer.

The Culinary Diplomacy Project is a chef-driven organization that sends prominent chefs to destinations around the world as representatives of American culture and cuisine. They use food to connect and learn about the people they are visiting, while also sharing their own culture. The “Feast of Five” event, which raised about $14,000, was held at the Amman Marriott Hotel, and paired up celebrity chefs from the United States – Amanda Freitag, Duff Goldman, Art Smith, Marc Murphy, and Mary Sue Milliken – with chefs from Marriott hotels.

The celebrity chefs were welcomed into the homes of the Marriott chefs to cook together, laugh together, form relationships, and create memories that will last well beyond their visit. They shared recipes and prepared a culinary experience for the five hundred guests that attended the “Feast of Five” event.

“We continue to support initiatives that elevate travel’s role in spurring cultural understanding,” said Philip Papadopoulos, General Manager of the Amman Marriott Hotel. “This initiative was not only a platform for the participating chefs and hotel teams to learn from each other, but also a great opportunity for us to raise funds and support the amazing work being done at the King Hussain Cancer Foundation.”

The “Feast of Five” initiative supports the 12th edition of Road to Awareness - Marriott International’s annual associate fundraising campaign and is an example of Marriott’s commitment to Nurture Our World and Welcome All & Advance Human Rights, integral parts of the company’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360.
